Symantec Enterprise Vault enables users to store, manage, and discover unstructured information across their organization. From a storage management perspective, Enterprise Vault reduces the size of the primary storage by moving emails and files off to cheaper storage “vaults” and further reducing the footprint through deduplication and compression.

As content is added to Enterprise Vault, it is fully indexed for searching through standard client utilities as well as the eDiscovery tool called Discovery Accelerator. The final layer of control is provided by the application of retention-based categorization which allows companies to secure and dispose of data based on a designated retention schedule.
